Paediatric Physical Therapy at AktivOrtho™
Paediatric Physical Therapy focuses on the treatment of infants and children who have neurological and musculoskeletal disorders or deformities which are either present at birth or are identified, or occur, later in life. The objective is to treat these conditions through stimulating activities which contribute to the child’s physical, mental and emotional language plus their psycho-social development.
Who can benefit?
The therapy focuses on enhancing the functions and increasing the strength and stamina of a child with a wide range of conditions such as:
- Congenital Talipes Equino Varus (CTEV)
- Ortho-related conditions
- Cerebral palsy
- Downs syndrome
- Neuro-muscular disease
- Spinal cord injury, etc
At AktivOrtho™, we provide a holistic approach toward a child’s injury, deformity or disability. Our focus is directed at restoring the functionality and strength of the injured or damaged part of the body but we also treat other areas that could have been potentially impacted. Master Kamran Uppal
(Kamran’s mother Ms. Karima Uppal shared her experiences on behalf of her son)
“We came to know about AktivOrtho™ through two patients, Ms. Renu Munjal and Ms. Anita Walia. In March 2014, I took my son (Kamran) to AktivOrtho™ for the first time to get his neck and its movements checked. He suffered from a medical condition known as torticollis.
Prior to coming to AktivOrtho™, we visited a few centres but were not able to get results. The rehabilitation process at AktivOrtho™ is very different. Ms. Aditi Midha (Kamran’s physiotherapist) is just wonderful. She is patient, friendly and has really been able to help him.
Now, his head is straighter and has greater range of motion. There is an overall improvement. All my previous experiences have been Western in terms of treatment approach. However, we have seen more and stronger results at AktivOrtho™”.
COMMENTS BY PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Ms. Aditi Midha
When Master Kamran Uppal was brought to AktivOrtho™, his neck was slightly bent towards left. He was diagnosed with torticollis three months after his birth. In comparison to his right side, his left upper extremity was weaker and movement was slower.
We aimed at strengthening his neck and arms through gentle myofascial release and used neuro developmental therapy for posture control and mild craniosacral therapy for neck alignment.
With our treatment, the patient’s neck symmetry improved and now he has increased strength in his arms, especially on the left side. Other benefits include improved postural control and balance. His neck is in a neutral position and his performance for his age has improved”.
